Viconics Technologies Inc., Montreal, Canada introduces the R842 microcomputer-based relay for electric baseboards. With a typical life of greater than 500,000 cycles, and high 
resistive ratings, the R842 can accept signals from a conventional two-wire low voltage thermostat, or Viconics own T186 electronic wall sensor, or a 0-10 V DC signal from BAS systems. The latter two options provide time-proportioning PI control, which provides increased accuracy, comfort, and 5-10% energy savings. The compact size of the R842 can permit direct installation in the baseboard and can replace most competitive models with built-in transformer.
