Our History
Viconics Technologies Inc. was founded in 1981 in Montreal, Canada as Quantum Electronics to respond to the increasing demand for accurate, versatile, cost-effective and reliable industrial process and temperature instruments and controls.
The company’s early success was due to its combined experience in electronics, control technology, microcomputers and industrial packaging and the ability to generate a complete set of specifications, based on customer and market needs, and within a short time transform this into a product that was designed, manufactured and tested in-house.
In 1985 the company was among the first to offer single-chip digital microcomputer-based industrial temperature PID controls. In 1987 the company also began several custom HVAC product developments. In 1991 the company expanded into a 8,000 sq. ft. facility and developed the Micro-Stat line of zone thermostat and humidistats as improved alternative solutions to pneumatic and electromechanical devices.
The company experienced steady growth, continuing its focus in the HVAC sector and expanded its product line to include zone and zoning controls, residential and swimming pool heat pump controls and SCR power controls.
In 2000, Viconics began construction of a modern 25,000 sq. ft. head office, manufacturing and R/D facilities. This new ISO9000:2000 certified and ISO14001 compliant facility has through-hole and SMT capability, 3 environmental rooms for product/equipment testing, in-line testing with bar-code tracking and laser engraving capability to better serve our customers.
