[Question]

How can I change the Device Instance ID of a VT7000 series BACnet thermostat?

[Answer]

The Device Instance ID is a writable point in our thermostats, though not many automation systems allow writing to that point. By default, the Device Instance (Device ID) is generated using the first two digits of the model of the thermostat + the MAC address. Example: For a VT7200C5000 thermostats with MAC address 115, the default Device Instance would be 72115.

Any number between 1 and 4194303 (between 1 and 3FFFFF in Hex) are accepted by the thermostat.
The tools to use can be any BACnet explorer that gives you access (with write access) or enables you to write to the Device Instance ID. Viconics provides, on request, the VT7000 BACnet Configurator utility that can be used for that purpose.
